StarPix: Michael Urie
The Learning Channel is promoting "Ugly Betty" star Michael Urie, who plays a flamboyant gay character on the ABC comedy, as an "eligible bachelor" ahead of the premiere of his new series "Miss America: Reality Check."
The actor, who made a dateless appearance at the grand opening of Jay-Z's 40/40 Club in Vegas on Sunday, will be mingling with beauty queens on the 4-week series, a part of efforts to rebrand the 86-year old pageant which takes place on January 26.
After spending the holidays with his parents in Virginia, Urie returned to Los Angeles to star in a play called "Dickie and Babe." He's trying to keep busy but admits to being "worried and scared" about the time it could take to settle the writers' strike.
