"Gossip Girl" Moving to CW Mondays
The CW's hot teen drama "Gossip Girl" is moving to Monday nights beginning January 28. Tomorrow night the network airs the last filmed episode of the series titled "The Thin Line Between Chuck and Nate" which may end up being the first season finale unless - and I'm getting tired of saying this - the writers' strike is resolved soon.
The CW will then repeat the first two episodes of the series ("Pilot" on January 16 and "The Wild Brunch" on January 23) before moving the show. The reruns will resume every Monday night at 8:00 p.m. where the network is hoping to expose the show to an entirely new audience.
The CW is expected to repeat all 13 episodes that have aired through early April at which point we may see some new episodes, but only if the strike is resolved withing a month or so. If the strike ends at the end of the winter there won't be sufficient time to produce a single episode before the May sweeps.
"Gossip Girl" was the first show to receive a full season order of 22 episodes in October 2007. Although averaging only 2.49 million viewers (season thus far, through December 30) the show does well among its core audience and ranks #1 on the I-Tunes download chart.
