FOX's "Prison Break" Delays Appearance of "Cherry Hill's" Molly
A new female character on FOX's "Prison Break" called Molly who may or may not become the central focus of the proposed spin-off series "Cherry Hill" was said to be introduced in the mid season finale episode scheduled to air December 17. Rumor has it, this is no longer the case and we won't see Molly before "Prison Break" returns in 2008, whenever that is.
The writers' strike will prevent the showrunner Matt Olmstead from further tweaking the script when the episode goes shortly into production.
Molly was conceived as a middle class housewife whose husband is killed by the Company and she seeks out brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows to help her avenge him.
According to the sides released to the casting agencies, Molly was supposed to confront Susan, who works for the Company, at the end of episode and get her to confess. Then Molly pulls the trigger and the screen goes dark.
It appears now the scene is not a part of the episode and was written for audition purposes. Molly may not appear on "Prison Break" before the show returns in April 2008.
If the writers' strike continues well into 2008, the producers have said this season would be reduced to 13 episodes and the December finale would also serve as the third season finale, in which case the show would not return before September 2008.
FOX was planning to launch "Cherry Hill," a spin-off from "Prison Break" set at a woman's penitentiary centered around Molly's character who may evolve into Michael's (Wentworth Miller) new love interest.
