TV Ratings:"Cane" Hits Series Low

Bad news for CBS. The network's highest rated new series "Cane," which has been on the decline since its premiere, hit series low last night pulling in only 8.5 million viewers and scoring a very low 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demo. Is that an axe I see sharpening?

Last year the network canceled its Ray Liotta-fronted thief drama "Smith" after only 3 airings which averaged 9.7 million viewers ("Cane" aired a 4th installment last night). The networks are a little reluctant to pull the plug this year because of the impending writers' strike.

CBS' sister network The CW, on the other hand, had something to smile about. Its suddenly promising line-up of "Beauty and the Geek" and "Reaper" was up almost half a million viewers over last Tuesday.

ABC:
Cavemen (6.92 million)
Carpoolers (6.96 million)
Dancing with the Stars (17.03 million)
Boston Legal (10.22 million)

CBS:
NCIS (17.40 million)
The Unit (12.27 million)
Cane (8.50 million)

NBC:
Dateline Special (5.93 million)
The Biggest Loser (6.90 million)
Law & Order: SVU (12.54 million)

FOX:
American League Championship Baseball Series (11.71 million)

The CW:
Beauty and the Geek (3.55 million)
Reaper (3.25 million)

NCIS is one of the shows that I hear very little about. I didn't realize how well it does.

ABC's sitcoms are abysmal. Cancel Cavemen, and make Carpoolers all about the guy with the wife whose face we never see.(HE's the only thing remotely funny about that show)

Great story line BUT it seems that you're set up with a preview scene that takes the whole show and nothing really happens, i.e., it peaks, drags, peaks, drags. Unfortunately, too many drags, not enough peaks. I keep watching ONLY to find out if the star escapes arrest for the murder of the man that threatened his son.
