"Samantha Who?" #1 New Series (TV Ratings, 10/15/07)

ABC's amnesia gal Christina Applegate and her new sitcom "Samantha Who?" exceeded the #1 comedy on television "Two and a Half Men" in total viewers pulling in 14.92 million viewers on Monday night.

"Samantha Who" also became this fall's highest rated new series premiere, beating "Private Practice" which got off to a strong start on September 26 with 14.24 million viewers.

This is in part because the comedy aired after ABC's blockbuster competition "Dancing with the Stars" which was once again the night's hottest show with 19.19 million viewers.

On the other hand, "Dancing" scored similar numbers last Monday, October 8, but its lead-out "The Bachelor" retained only 9.92 million viewers that night.

ABC is the network to beat this fall. The Alphabet net airs most of the hottest new shows including "Private Practice," "Women's Murder Club," "Pushing Daisies" and now "Samantha Who?".

However, the jury is still out on the Nielsen power of 10 p.m. shows "Dirty Sexy Money" and "Big Shots."

ABC:
Dancing with the Stars (19.19 million)
Samantha Who? (14.92 million)
The Bachelor (9.3 million)

Two and a Half Men (13.78 million)
Rules of Engagement (11.02 million)

NBC:

Heroes (11.26 million)
Journeyman (7 million)

FOX:

I am SO surprised Justin about Samantha Who. I saw a few minutes of it and did not like it...it had that "Jake in Progress", "Help Me Help You" kind of one camera comedy ABC has become infamous for. I think it'll drop big time next week, but if not, I'll be happy for ABC they finally have a comedy hit, long time coming. What did you think of it Justin?

Honestly? I have yet to watch it. But I loved the clips and previews. By the way, I was one of the 0.7 fans of "Jake in Progress." But I couldn't care less about "Help Me Help You."

I got to see Samantha Who? last night. While this may not be saying much at all, I've found it to be the most humerous sitcom this season. I kinda hate it's random timeslot but am glad that it's doing well. ABC does seem to be the network to beat this fall. With most new shows sturggling, theirs seem to be the most promising. This also seems to be the best batch in a while for me in terms of quality. I've enjoyed Women's Murder Club, Private Practice, Samantha Who? and Dirty Sexy Money a lot. And I'm in total love with Pushing Daisies. I really hope that all of these shows stay strong in the coming weeks. If so, this could be another good year for ABC.

I just watched it off my DVR and I liked it. I don't see how they can take the amnesia story line and make it into another season but the pilot was funny. I loved the line where Samantha says "You made me who I am!" to which her mother replies "That's a terrible thing to say." I almost died of laughter. The only problem I have with the show is that is the time it comes on. I'm trying to start watching Rules of Engagement and I am a die hard Heroes fan which is leaving no time for Samantha WHo? But hopefully something will work out. Also, The Big Bang Theory with guest star Laurie Metcalf was funny as all hell. Though kinda weird I'm having a small crush on Sheldon (played by Jim Parsons).

I knew it would do well because of DWTS but Im glad it actually DESERVED to do well because it was actually FUNNY and probably tied with Aliens in America as the funniest comedy of the night. The supporting characters are HILARIOUS on Sam Who and I'm glad Christina has another chance to shine again!
