TV Ratings: "Musical" Shatters Records


TV history was made on Friday night when 17.2 million people tuned into The Disney Channel to watch the premiere of the sequel to "High School Musical" making the debut the most-watched basic cable telecast of all time.


The movie ranked as the most-watched TV telecast in a number of demos, as well as the highest rated Friday night programming across all networks in 5 years. Fridays and Saturdays are normally the lowest rated nights on US television.

The original "High School Musical" premiered in early 2006 pulling in 7.7 million viewers. The movie has been repeated over 20 times since then always luringg an audience of over 5 million people.

i watched high school musical and high school musical 2 and thought that they were pretty good although the music in the 1st one was better
