Ryan Seacrest to Host Super Bowl on FOX
The juggernaut power of "American Idol" and "Super Bowl" will collide during next year's FOX telecast of the TV event of the year as the network tapped of KIIS FM DJ Ryan Seacrest to host the red carpet feed as well as the infamous half-time show.
This is the first time a network assigned a host to serve as the master of ceremonies at the big game. Super Bowl is set to take place in February at the University of Phoenix stadium in Arizona.
The network has yet to announce its plans for the half-time show. In February 2007, Prince performed at Orange Bowl in Miami soaked in rain. The show is designed to pull in non-football fans and increase the already massive viewership.
Last Super Bowl (XLI, aired on February 4, 2007) was the second most watched Super Bowl ever as well as the third most watched program in the history of American television (behind series finale of "M*A*S*H" and Super Bowl XXX).
The telecast averaged 93,15 million viewers.
