Is Lana Lang Luthor Dead?
According to "Smallville" fansite KryptonSite, not only is Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk) not dead, but the entire cast of season six is coming back next season, apart from "Superman" vet Annette O'Toole who will now become a recurring character.
The producers of course did their best to generate buzz about the May 17 season finale "Phantom" which left the lives of most of the major characters in peril, including Lana Lang whose body appeared to have been blown into smithereens.
Now, the fansite believes the entire cast returns, including Aaron Ashmore who joined the show in September 2006 as Jimmy Olsen. Martha Kent (O'Toole) has moved to Washington and I presume will appear during sweeps episodes.
Also, John Glover who plays the fascinating, but no-longer-evil Lionel Luthor may return a little bit later, but he will indeed be back.
Justin Hartley who played the hunky Green Arrow earlier this season was not expected to return, but now that his comedy pilot "Spellbound" has not been picked up by The CW, he may be available.
As for Lana, if she does survive the assassination attempt (it must have been the milk truck that saved her) she may not necessarily end up with Clark (Tom Welling) as Erica Durance who plays Lois Lane reminds the fans it is Lois that Superman ultimately falls in love with, not Lana Lang.
The actors are bound by their respective contracts through the end of the 7th season and if there will be an 8th one, Tom Welling has already confirmed he would be interested in doing it, but Kristin Kreuk has said that would be the best time for her to leave the show.
