"Friday Night Lights" Renewed?
NBC has yet to make an official announcement, but according to E! Online things are looking very, very good for a second season of the network's critically-acclaimed series "Friday Night Lights."
The Peacock network will announce its new fall schedule on Monday, May 14 at the Upfronts event for advertisers in New York City, but sources within the network claim NBC is already moving forward on the Texas-set show's sophomore season.
Last month the network ordered six more scripts for the show's second season and now members of the cast are being locked down for the next season. Also, NBC is said to be making travel arrangements for the cast for the upcoming press events.
"Friday Night Lights" was praised by a number of TV critics as the best new drama of the 2006-2007 season, but the show has struggled in its Tuesday at 8 and later, Wednesday at 8 timeslot.
The 1st season finale on April 11 scored a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demo placing the show in the 61st place on the Nielsen ratings chart for the week ending April 15. If the show returns, it is likely NBC will give it a new timeslot.
