Crazy About "Sex"
HBO's hit series "Sex and the City" may have been off air for over 3 years now, but its spirit still lives on as networks announce the launch of as many as 3 new shows inspired by the classic comedy.
NBC's "Lipstick Jungle" starring Brooke Shields, is a dramedy based on "Sex" author Candace Bushnell's follow-up to her best-seller.
ABC's "Cashmere Mafia," starring Lucy Liu from "Sex" creator-executive producer Darren Star, is described as "the next generation of 'Sex and the City'."
ABC's "Women's Murder Club," starring Angie Harmon and based on a book by James Patterson is dubbed "CSI" meets "Sex and the City."
Finally, as if all that is not enough, there are also Michael Vartan and his CEO pals in ABC's "Big Shots," a show described as the "male version of 'Sex and the City'."
The shows revolving around a trio or quartet of (girl)friends bear a striking resemblance to the HBO series. Can they all succeed?
Previous attempts to launch a similar show have failed until Marc Cherry came along and reinvented the formula with his award-winning "Desperate Housewives."
So, if you liked "Sex and the City" chances are you'll find something to enjoy come fall. Don't get too attached, though.
The prime-time battle always gets ugly and that means there will be casualties.

Big Shots sounds promising ;)
Ya know, one could interpret that show title several ways LOL
I still love Sex and the City, one of my top favorite shows of all time! They tried to rip off the show a few times, I don't think any of them succeeded, the chemistry, writing and acting of the original weren't there.
Yes, that sound much better than the original title "Perfect Gentlemen"... LOL...
I agree. "Sex and the City" will remain an all-time classic. One to enjoy on DVD over and over again. By the way, Carrie rules! :)
