Eva Longoria & ELLE Go Green

Publishing may not be the most environmentally-friendly business, but ELLE Magazine disagrees. The May issue will be published on recycled paper and it will be focusing on health, beauty and fashion products safe for the environment.

Following her return from Europe, "Desperate Housewife" Eva Longoria was one of the many celebrities at the issue launch party in Los Angeles yesterday. The party was a benefit for stopglobalwarming.org

An issue focusing entirely on the environment may not necessarily be a hit with average ELLE readers, but the magazine may have found a clever way to incorporate an important and serious theme into its ritzy-blitzy content.

The issue hits newsstands on April 18.

I think that Elle raising awareness about environmental issues and printing on recycled paper are both good things. My job is to help magazines begin using recycled paper and last year I congratulated Elle for using recycled paper, and I probably will do the same this year.

But if Shape, Natural Health and 100 other magazines can use recycled paper every issue, year after year, why can't Elle? Why can't they be leaders and use recycled paper every issue and not just do what seems to be a PR gimmick each year by using recycled paper? I again offer to help them for free to find environmentally and socially responsible recycled paper.
