TV Ratings: Supersized NBC Comedies Lose Momentum

That nasty habit of super-sizing Thursday night comedies that tends to irritate ratings analysts was back on NBC last night and it was back with a whimper. After opening at 6,69 million viewers, the line up of "The Office" , the just renewed "30 Rock" and "Scrubs" ended with pitiful 4,97 million.

CSI on CBS posted the night's strongest numbers, although the procedural is quite off last year's levels with 21,55 million viewers. Earlier, the network's reality show "Survivor" also suffered losses compared to last season and attracted 13,27 million viewers.

In the battle of 10 p.m. dramas "Shark" (15,27 million) bested ABC's fading new series "October Road" which hit series-low of 7,74 million viewers, losing a million since last week. The rookie drama did not benefit from weaker competition - NBC aired a combo of Andy Barker, P.I. (4,07 million) and a repeat of "Earl" (3,78 mil.)

This only proves that shows just cannot survive on ABC at 10PM, unless they are phenominal. Its been proven that shows like October Road, and Brothers and Sisters loose steam when their lead-in is off, and sometimes its a LOT of steam. Despite it's shed of viewers, Lost is still hanging in there, and it's leadin is almost non-existant. So it just goes to show what shows are truly successes.

I will defend "Brothers & Sisters" till the end (well, at least while I'm enjoying the show), but it is true that in the battle of network stars, LOST is a genuine keeper.
