ABC has announced changes to its Wednesday night schedule come June when following the current non-stop season of "LOST", freshman drama "Traveler" (starring The O.C.'s Logan Marshall Green and Desperate Housewives' Steven Culp) takes over its 10pm spot.
A week after the 2-hour finale of "LOST", ABC will premiere its new reality series (or as they like to call it 'alternative' series) "The Next Best Thing: Who is the Greatest Celebrity Impersonator?" with a 2-hour pilot on May 30 at 8pm.
The telecast fill be followed by the series premiere of ABC's new and very exciting Warner Bros thriller "Traveler" also starring Matthew Bomer (Tru Calling), Aaron Stanford (X-Men: The Last Stand), Pascale Hutton (Smallville), Anthony Ruivivar (Third Watch), William Sadler (Roswell, The Shawshank Redemption) and Billy Mayo (24, Air Force One.)
The drama revolves around three best friends and roommates from graduate school - Jay Burchell, Tyler Fog and Will Traveler who are about to depart on a cross country road trip together and make New York City their first stop.
But when an innocent prank at one of New York's oldest art museums coincides with the bombing of the iconic building, Jay and Tyler realize that their friend, Will, has framed them for a domestic terrorist attack.
Now Tyler and Jay must answer two questions to prove their innocence: Who is Will Traveler? And why did he do this to them?
The drama was originally supposed to air in the fall with the standard 13-episode order and option to extend that with the back 9 episodes.
When the network ran out of free space after it put the new dramas "Day Break", "The Nine" and "Six Degrees" on the schedule, it decided to make "Traveler" a midseason replacement and it cut the episode order to only 8 episodes.
Now the drama will end up as post-season replacement giving little hope into its renewal unless of course it becomes a ratings smash.
Sandwiched between "Impersonator" and "Traveler" will be a new season of Simon Cowell's "American Inventor". The series kicks off its second season on June 6 at 9pm.

I'm going to hold out hope for Traveler. From what I hear, its a quality show. If ABC promotes it right, it can survive. My hope is that if enough people tune into the Pilot, and get addicted, it will come back. If Traveler can pull in what Lost has now, than it has a chance. 12 million viewers is pretty good for a summer show.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to root for this show because I like the cast and the story premise is very interesting.

If this were ANY other show that premiered this season, Brothers and Sisters, Ugly Betty, Day Break, The Nine, ANY of them, I'd say that the show was doomed at this stage. But Traveler has something, it has one of those grab you plots. Its just one of those edge of your seat, "OMG I HAVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!" type of shows. If it were any other show, I'd expect the axe, but Traveler is one of the most amazing things I have seen on Tv in years, and its something to do during the summer, and its airing in the early summer, so it does have a chance. All we have to do is get it to have like 12 million viewers, and I think it can win. Lets tell our friends and family, and pray that this show makes it. If any show can survive the summer, this is it.
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of shows for the summer then to watch. I can't wait! :)
ReplyDeletePlus this show stars Logan Marshall Green. :) What more do I need? :P
