"Desperate" Golfers Spill Spoilers
"Desperate Housewives" star Teri Hatcher and her co-stars and friends played 18 holes at the Sterling Hills Golf Club, north of Los Angeles in Camarillo, Calif. on Sunday, hoping to raise $30,000 from an event, which also featured a dinner with raffle and auction.
Hatcher organized "Desperate Golfers Second Annual Charity Fundraiser" for Casa Pacifica, a Southern California home for abused, neglected or at-risk children with makeup artist John Elliott and his wife, Rebecca. Hatcher and daughter Emerson, 9, are visitors to the children's home.
"If Emerson gets gifts that she already has, we don't return them. Instead, at the end of the year, we take the toys to the kids at Casa Pacifica," Hatcher was quoted as saying.
At the event, Hatcher disclosed she had just finished filming an episode with Frasier's Peri Gilpin. "I hire her as my wedding planner," she said. In the episode Hatcher starts shooting this week, Susan ends up in anger management.
According to insiders, Susan will discover that she was the prize at the recent game of poker between Ian and Mike. She decides to call it off with Ian, and is both furious and upset with both men for treating her like an object.
Later, a routine trip to a mall goes wrong when a man steals a parking space under Susan's nose. She flips out, steals the man's keys and tries to move his car herself, but ends up almost choking him by closing the car window.
Shocked by her own behavior and in trouble with the law, Susan attends anger management counseling. The counselor probes into Susan's feelings, and concludes Susan is afraid to make the ultimate choice. Ian or Mike?
Back on the golf course, Hatcher estimated 120 tournament players (including many Housewives cast, crewmembers and her boyfriend director Stephen Kay) donated anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars.
Dougray Scott who plays Hatcher's on-screen fiance Ian Kavanaugh, said, "I was brought up playing." When he was 6, his dad introduced him to the game in Scotland.
Brenda Strong (Mary Alice) said she had picked up a club only one other time in the past 12 years, while Ricardo Antonio Chavira (Carlos) played golf for the first time only two days before the tournament.
Chavira enjoyed playing with John Slattery, who plays Eva Longoria's new romantic interest on the show, and said "I'm going to kick his (butt)." Just a few hours into the tournament, though, Chavira had hit two houses near the course.
Doug Savant (Tom) and his long-time pal Jason Gedrick, who - as previously reported - joins the show soon, helping at Tom's pizza parlor, also enjoyed some friendly competition. On the show, however, the men will clash over Lynette.
