'Men in Trees' Moves to Thursdays
ABC has announced it is pulling the underperforming drama "Six Degrees" from their schedule effective immediately. Tonight, the network is repeating the supermarket shootout episode of "Desperate Housewives". Their Friday night drama "Men in Trees" starring Anne Heche will move to Thursdays from November 30.
Although the network has promised to burn off the remaining episodes of their complex 10pm drama produced by Lost creator JJ Abrams starting in January, it is almost certain the drama will not return to the schedule if Men in Trees finds a larger audience on Thursdays. The Alaska based drama which may be a better match for ABC's mega-popular 9pm drama "Grey's Anatomy" has had a quiet run on Friday nights averaging a little less than 7 million viewers.
ABC has already moved their freshman comedy "Ugly Betty" which was originally supposed to air on Friday nights to the 8pm slot on Thursday making it one of the biggest new hits of the season. If successful with the 'Trees' move, ABC will finally have blockbuster programming on the night it struggled to have success with for years.
