From Zero To "Hiro"
Geeky Japanese office worker Hiro Nakamura on NBC's Heroes has quickly become one of the most beloved characters on network television. For Masi Oka who plays Hiro in the hit series, it is a dream come true.
The actor who was originally born in Japan and moved to the US at the age of six has, just like his on-screen alter ego, always been passionate about comic books. That is why it does not get any better than being on a show that feels looks and feels like one.
Oka's breakout character has generated a lot of buzz as Heroes became the #1 new show this season not only across a variety of demographic groups including teenagers, but also among viewers overall. The show has recently crossed the 16 million mark.
Enjoying his new-found fame, Masi Oka has made several public appearances, including the one on NBC's morning show "Today". As pictured above, the actor (with his co-star Milo Ventimiglia) "showed off" the time-bending and teleporting talents of his character, or rather the facial expressions that accompany the use of those talents, right in the heart of New York City, where Hiro started his journey to save the cheerleader and the world.
