Will "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" Survive After All?

ABC decided not to pick up the TV adaptation of the 2005 Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt blockbuster "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" starring Jordana Brewster as Jane Smith. The pilot however may still be alive.

According to Hollywood trade press, the high-profile pilot which was filmed on a big budget is being shopped around Hollywood as the producers try to find a new home for it.

If picked up by another network, Simon Kinberg and Doug Liman, who wrote and directed both the pilot and the film - as well as its stars, Jordana Brewster and Martin Henderson will remain on board.

ABC has also rejected "Football Wives," American version of the British hit soap starring James Van Der Beek and Eddie Cibrian, a Heather Locklear sitcom and an update of the classic detective story "Marlowe."

ABC Has Found "Mrs. Smith"

The TV version of the 2005 theatrical blockbuster "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" that had spawned one of the most recognizable celebrity couples in the world has found its Mrs. Smith.

Panama-born actress Jordana Brewster will be the female half of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" the ABC pilot based on the Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie film.

Jordana Brewster, who was most recently seen in "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning," will step into Jolie's assassin role for the pilot, the Hollywood press reports.

"Mr. and Mrs. Smith" will be the first prime-time series for Brewster, whose previous small-screen credits includes the NBC miniseries "The '60s" and the CBS soap "As the World Turns" in the late 1990s.

Her movie work includes "The Fast and the Furious," "The Faculty" and "Annapolis."

Simon Kinberg, the writer of the movie, and Doug Liman, its director, will perform the same duties on the "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" pilot, which takes place 6 months after the events of the film.

As the series begins, The Smiths have bought a new house in a new suburb and have re-established their businesses, but the attraction and sexual spark they had found at movie's end has dwindled, and they are back dealing with marital issues.
