"Dirty Sexy Money" Plunges in the UK
ABC's Dynasty-esque soap "Dirty Sexy Money" lost almost half its premiere audience on its second outing on Britain's Channel 4 plummeting to 1.4 million viewers and finishing behind an all-new "Torchwood" and "NCIS." Ouch.
The Donald Sutherland-fronted drama launched on March 21 to 2.7 million viewers (plus additional 300,000 on digital).
Strong premiere numbers for ITV comedy "Benidorm" starring Johnny Vegas (6.5 million) may have contributed to the show's descent.
Channel 4 heavily promoted "Dirty Sexy Money" following a decision to cut back on new American imports.
Last year, ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" (also from p[roducer Greg Berlanti) bombed in the UK. After a solid premiere on June 20 (2.4 million people tuned in) the ensemble show ultimately leveled off at only 600,000 viewers.
