Weekend Ratings (March 22-24, 2008)
Britney Spears helped CBS' "How I Met Your Mother" score its best ratings ever among adults 18-49 and a new season high in total viewers. The sitcom also outperformed its lead-in "The Big Bang Theory" by 2 million viewers. Check out Monday's figures along with the rest of the weekend ratings, after the jump.
On Saturday night, CBS' coverage of NCAA Basketball helped the Eye network beat ABC's traditional Easter rerun of the religious-themed "The Ten Commandments," as well as FOX's veteran reality line-up which normally wins the night.
But on Sunday night, Oprah Winfrey and the rest of ABC's reality line-up ensured that the Alphabet network beat CBS in both total viewers and adults 18-49. Nevertheless, NCAA Basketball was still stronger than "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," the hottest show on ABC's line-up.
Finally on Monday, in addition to record ratings for "How I Met Your Mother," CBS was on the top of its game also in the 10:00pm slot when "CSI: Miami" returned with its 2nd largest audience of the season.

Oh, please. How I Met Your Mother didn't do a thing in the ratings. Britney Spears scored the highest ratings for the show, and nothing more. Next week it will fall in line with the rest of the CBS sitcoms. Everyone knows this was ratings stunt for the show. Let's see what How I Met Your Mother's ratings are next week, with no Britney. That is the true test.
ReplyDeleteOUCH!!! New Amsterdam 6.28 million... the bachelor could have done better starting to steam things up now. :D go Shayne Lamas
ReplyDeleteObviously the ratings for HIMYM will go down following the Britney stunt (I certainly hope that some viewers continue to watch).
ReplyDeleteI am still not sure if last week HIMYM also eclipsed TBBT because some people thought Britney would show up then, or whether the new timselot (being closer to TAAHM) will continue to pull in the good numbers. We're about to see soon.
In any event - go Barney, you sexy MF!
Well I only watched HIMYM for Britney - finally something postive in her life. She did good. I wont however be coming back to HIMYM - so it will be intresting to see how many new viewers to stick around.
