NBC's "Las Vegas" Cancelled

NBC keeps swinging the axe. After 5 seasons, Montecito is closing down for good. Is "Friday Night Lights" next on the chopping block?

The show originally aired on Monday nights, but midway through season 3 (in early 2006) NBC successfully moved the series to lower-rated Fridays.

Last summer James Caan, one of the original cast members, left the casino-centered drama. The studio replaced him with Tom Selleck.

Despite the writers' strike, the cast and crew managed to film as many as 19 out of 22 episodes ordered.

This season the ratings went down 8% (from 9.02 million the show averaged in its 4th season to the current average of 8.29 million).

"Las Vegas" has already ended its run with a 2-hour episode last Friday.

I'm so upset about this! Also, I'm old, so I'm home every friday night to watch this show, but why put it on friday night? Wouldn't most of the people who would be interested in the show be young and going out on friday night? They set the show up for failure! At least don't leave the fans on a cliff-hanger last episode! End it properly!!!!

As a die hard fan, I will admit, I was a bit disappointed when James Caan left the show. When Tom Selleck arrived, I was again disappointed in his role and found it all a bit boring and childish. But, being the true fan of the show that I am, I toughed it out, hoping things would improve. And, to my delighted surprise it really came into it's own. Tom Selleck's character revitalized the show, and was setting the path of anew. It is very disappointing that many a lesser shows have been saved.

Come On.. Are you Kidding Me?? Why is it when I Get into a show it gets Cancelled. Las Vagas was an awesome show.. So it's ended without us knowing about or seeing the baby? What about the Danny/Delinda wedding? What happens with Piper and Mike, Sam (Love Her) does she find love? This really sucks!! Perhaps another network could pick the show up. I agree Friday Nights may not have been the smartest time to air the show, NBC should move it to another day where people are home to watch, (IE Sunday-Thursday)

I can't believe you are cancelling one of the best shows on tv. There are no good shows left anymore to watch. I always looked foward to Friday nights so that I could watch Las Vegas. Think you are making a "REAL BIG MISTAKE". Every time a show is a sucess, it is cancelled............

I just read Vegas was cancelled. It was a great show that didn't (for the most part) take itself too seriously. It was fun to watch and you could tell the cast had fun with each other. I do hope they film a proper ending. Sadly that was the only show I watched from NBC...guess they lost just a viewer for the whole network...

I can't believe this!!!!! I LOVE LAS VEGAS! I just started watching this season and I have fallen in love with the characters, the humor, and the stories. NBC has made a BIG mistake! At least finish what you started. You can't leave us hanging like this without knowing what happens to Delinda and her baby and what about Sam (who is the best by the way)...NBC you SUCK!

Why cancel the show because of low ratings. When the writer strike was going on parents took their kids to a movie or went out to rent movies. This is so stupid it was a great show. After 5 seasons i think they would let it go further. Tom Selleck is a good actor. I think NBC should here from the fans and tell them to bring it back.

I think that it is sad! NBC finally gets a GREAT show and then cancels it. I agree, ANY show sshould not suffer the axe because of the writers strike. Most people figured (like me) that most all shows were reruns anyway because of the strike. Unfortunately I don't think it matters what anyone does because NBC won't listen. THAT WOULD MAKE SENSE!

I just learned of this travesty last night! We had DVR'd the 2 hour special and finally had the opportunity to watch it. I was blown away by the ending and was so anxious to find out when the next episode would air. So off to the internet I went....That's when I found out the show had been cancelled. I almost cried. I'm very, very disappointed that NBC doesn't have the brains to realize what a mistake this is.

Please, oh please....bring Las Vegas back!

NBC, you're crazy!!!!! There are NO good TV shows, NO good entertainment nowadays with all the dumb reality shows!

You guys had a great hit with FANTASTIC actors going with the VEGAS show. It was one of the only shows on worth watching, and you cancelled it and not only cancelled it but ended it with NO ENDING AT ALL!!!

I'll just turn off NBC altogether!!! YOU SUCK!!!!!!!!

NBC SUCKS - One of the BEST shows and beloved cast of characters on TV - Who is in charge at NBC? Is it anyone that even owns a TV? Hopefully another network will have the sense to pickup this ensemble cast - with Tom Selleck leading the way.

So they finished 19 of 22 episodes.
Why not complete the season? We're talking 3 more shows. The writers strike put everyone on pause, but it wasn't to blame. It didn't stop The Office and the Las Vegas producers didn't want to end it - it was NBC's call.

Bad ratings?

8 million instead of 9..
What they hell did they replace it with? What new show was going to grab more than 8 million in mid-season?

3 Episodes!! Just amazing.

The smart thing would have been to film the shows, and put them on the Season 5 DVD. More reason for people to purchase it - like 8 million reasons, give or take 4 million :)

But I said smart. Clearly there has been no smart thinking regarding this yet. It won't start now.

The saddest part is I heard they have a new 16 week show running - Celebrity Circus or some crap.

With great celebrities, like 2005's one song, two month hit, recording artist, Blu Cantrell performing circus stunts.

What brilliant NBC exec, can compare Las Vegas with that, and look themselves in the mirror in the morning. Pathetic.

This is bull I've been waiting for the new stuff all damn summer and I hear about this. What the hell you guys could have a least put out a 2 hour ending to leave everybody with, too many damn shows have had this done to them. I know this crap is just about money to you guys but damn you wonder why people are starting to watch less and less tv cause there tired of this kinda crap happening, theres no point in watching something and getting attached when you know it could just be canceled at any moment.ALSO STOP PUTTING SHOWS THAT YOUNGER PEOPLE LIKE ON FRIDAY NIGHTS HOW STUPID ARE YOU,DAMN EVERYBODY KNOWS YOUNGER PEOPLE GO OUT ON FRIDAY AND SAT. NIGHTS SO LEAVE IT ON MONDAY OR TUESDAY AND PAY ATTENTION TO THE COMPUTER HITS AND DVD SALES CAUSE YOU PUT THE SHOW ON DAMN FRIDAY NIGHTS SO HELL I WOULD JUST WAIT AND WATCH IT ON THE COMPUTER OR WAIT AND BUY IT ON DVD.

My husband and I started watching Las Vegas mid-series. We LOVE it! We have kids, so we are home on Fridays, so we didn't care about the night it aired either. I looked up what was obviously an old website a few weeks ago and it said the new season would air on Oct 27th.....it wasn't until I realized that the 27th wasn't on a Friday that I dug deeper and found out it was cancelled. It never occurred to me! With the cliff hanger at the end and the "to be continued".....we've been looking forward to the new season and watching the reruns on TNT in the meantime! We miss James Caan, but love Tom Selleck and we are VERY disappointed with NBC's decision to cancel. I agree with other posters that NBC should at least air a proper series finale. But I wish instead they'd bring the show back!!

This show is the only good thing to ever come out of NBC. How they can expect a show to grow on Friday nights, I have no idea. I'm 22 so I'm usually out when Las Vegas was on. I love this show and still watch it all the time, and wish NBC would pull its head out of its ? to renew the series.
