TV Ratings: Wednesday (11/28/07)

ABC rose to the top in the 18-49 ratings last night as its all-new Christmas special "Shrek the Halls" shattered its competition pulling in 21.06 million viewers. Meanwhile, "The Bionic Woman" which competed with "Pushing Daisies" instead of "Private Practice" hit a new series low of 5.99 million viewers despite getting a stronger lead-in. Has the show pulled a "Commander In Chief" in only 2 months or what?

Both "Pushing Daisies" and "Dirty Sexy Money" were up from last week's series-low figures.

This was "Daisies' " third highest rating ever, while "Dirty Sexy Money" retained about 70% of its lead-in audience, as it always does when "Private Practice" airs in the same timeslot.

ABC:
Shrek the Halls (21.06 million)
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (18.74 million)
Pushing Daisies (10.18 million)
Dirty Sexy Money (7.15 million)

CBS:
Kid Nation (7.29 million)
Criminal Minds (16.26 million)
CSI: NY (14.03 million)

NBC:
Christmas in Rockefeller Center (8.98 million)
Bionic Woman (5.99 million)
Life (6.27 million)

FOX:
‘Til Death (5.99 million)
Kitchen Nightmares (7.03 million)

The CW:
America’s Next Top Model (5.03 million)
Gossip Girl (2.98 million)

And a certain ratings guy said that PD was fading fast. Tell me Justin, do shows that are fading fast usually hit series highs in any demos?(PD hit series highs in 3 demos) Do series that are fading fast even pick up ratings at all from the previous week?

I don't think that the certain ratings guy is a fan of PD. :) But I wouldn't listen to him too much; he loves to talk about the cancellation clock ticking whenever he gets a chance.

Although I personally find recent declines of the entire ABC Wednesday night line-up somewhat worrisome, I think the true test will come once the strike is over and the shows come back in 2008 with new episodes.

Unfortunately, PD is a difficult show to film - episode #9 finished shooting just days ago and it won't be ready to air next Wednesday. Which means it'll air on December 12 when both PP and DSM will be reruns.

I'm definetly worried about the Wednesday lineup, but mainly because of the strike. If there were no strike, we'd be assured at least 22 episodes. Would better than what we may end up with.
