"Pushing Daisies" Hits Series-Low

The entire Wednesday night line-up of freshman shows on ABC was down to its all-time low, but unlike "Private Practice" and "Dirty Sexy Money" whose numbers were comparable to last week, the brilliant "Pushing Daisies" lost over a million viewers and went down 19% in 18-49 demo week-to-week. Was it Halloween or is the show slowly withering away?

NBC's "Life" did not benefit from a 2-hour edition of "Phenomenon" sinking to a dramatic low of only 5.72 million viewers. Although the show began its run on the Peacock network a month ago on a par with "Dirty Sexy Money," ABC sudser is now a clear winner in that race.

The weakest link in CBS' winning line-up remains its 8pm reality show "Kid Nation." However, because of the weak competition in the hour, the show came out as #2 among adults 18-49. CBS won Halloween night and aired the the #1 show "Criminal Minds" (14.69 million).

The #1 show among adults 18-49 was ABC's "Private Practice" (3.8).

ABC:
Pushing Daisies (8.58 million)
Private Practice (11.23 million)
Dirty Sexy Money (8.38 million)

CBS:
Kid Nation (6.89 million)
Criminal Minds (14.69 million)
CSI: NY (13.84 million)

NBC:
Phenomenon (5.95 million)
Life (5.72 million)

FOX:
Back to You (R) (5.17 million)
'Till Death (R) (4.90 million)
Kitchen Nightmares (R) (3.84 million)

The CW:
America's Next Top Model: Clip Show (3.28 million)
Gossip Girl (R) (1.49 million)

i'm absolutely LOVING Dirty Sexy Money
don't understand why any of the new shows don't have that HIT-power Grey's anatomy or lost or desperate housewives had a few years ago.

Last year Heroes was the best with around 14 million, where did al the 20+ million shows go ?

DSM does have quite a difficult slot, I know, but still it's good.
as are quite a few others ...

Do hope not too many new shows get cancelled do to the writers strike, especially dirty sexy money, since that one hasn't even been picked up for a whole seasoN ...

So sad about Pushing Daisies, while I don't love the show, I really like the show. Unfortunately I think that it suffers from the Ugly Betty syndrome, it might be a bit too quirky for the mainstream.

Yes, PD did win the timeslot (also among adults 18-49), but the drop is nevertheless worrying. The show has now lost 33% of its debut audience.

ABC has ordered a full season, but a writers' strike (or an occasional 2-hour 'American Idol') certainly won't help maintain an audience that would keep this expensive little show sustainable for the network.

It needs to stop bleeding.
