TV Ratings: "The Next Great American Band" Bombs (10/19/07)

I don't think that FOX believed "The Next Great American Band" could be the next "American Idol" or that Ian "Dicko" Dickson could be the next Simon Cowell, but the ratings for the season premiere of the network's new reality contest are, to put it mildly, disappointing.

The show premiere drew about 3.57 million viewers, sending the network ito the fifth place, behind The CW's wrestling show "Friday Night Smackdown."

Meanwhile, the network finally admitted its other Friday night flop "Nashville" will not be coming back to the schedule.

Last Friday's big winner "Women's Murder Club" managed to hold on to a great deal of its premiere audience and is now the 3rd highest rated freshman series. The show is, however, scoring a very modest 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demo.

The most watched program of the night was CBS' "Numb3rs." CBS was the winner in both total viewers (8.81 million) and 18-49 demo (2.4).

ABC:
20/20 (6.75 million)
Women's Murder Club (9.67 million)
Men in Trees (6.42 million)

CBS:
Ghost Whisperer (8.92 million)
Moonlight (7.78 million)
Numb3rs (9.72 million)

NBC:
Deal or No Deal (9.32 million)
Friday Night Lights (5.48 million)
Las Vegas (7.51 million)

FOX:
The Next Great American Band (3.57 million)

The CW:
Friday Night Smackdown (4.66 million)

Its too bad about Men in Trees. It is a solid enjoyable show but they screwed around with it so much last season timing wise that I'm not surprised it isn't doing well.
