Eric Johnson Brings Flash Back

Canadian actor Eric Johnson who is best known for playing Whitney in the first season of The WB's (now The CW's) "Smallville" stars in the Sci-Fi channel remake of the classic "Flash Gordon" saga premiering August 10.

The new series will put a 21st century spin on the classic with all-new adventures of Flash and his companions, Dale Arden and Dr. Hans Zarkov who find themselves as Earth's last line of defense against the forces of the merciless dictator Ming.

The first two episodes of Flash Gordon were written by Peter Hume (Charmed, Cruel Intentions II) and directed by Rick Rosenthal. A full season of 22 episodes has been ordered.

Eric Johnson began his career over a decade ago, when he landed the role of "teen Tristan," the younger counterpart to Brad Pitt in the film Legends of the Fall. He recently appeared in Criminal Minds, The Dead Zone, Ghost Whisperer and The Unit.
