Dr. Seuss Forces ABC to Change Sitcom Title
"Sam I Am" may have been a great title for Christina Applegate's new ABC laffer, but the estate of Dr. Seuss was not too happy about it. The network has agreed to change the name of its freshman sitcom to "Samantha Be Good."
The original title of the comedy played on the twist that the principal character, Applegate's Samantha Newly has amnesia and can't remember anything about her past life when she was allegedly a complete bitch.
Unfortunately for ABC the title also drew on the first lines of the classic Dr. Seuss work "Green Eggs and Ham," so the network has come up with a new title which still reflects one of the show's themes - Samantha's struggle to be a better person.
The actress is pictured above with the star of the CBS hit comedy "How I Met Your Mother" Niel Patrick Harris backstage at the recent Tony Awards ceremony where the couple took the stage as presenters.
