"LOST" Finale: Sick & Deranged
"Only an extremely deranged individual would think of doing what we're doing," says executive producer Damon Lindelof about the 3rd season finale of ABC's "LOST" in an exclusive interview to Entertainment Weekly.
The producers of ABC's hit drama have revealed that they are referring to the 2-hour season-ending episode (airs May 23) as "rattlesnake in the mailbox" because only a sick and deranged person would think of doing that, which is exactly what they are doing this year.
The episode will feature a game-changing event that may alter the flashback structure of the show. The episode itself will feature a flashback revealing a significant event in Jack's (Matthew Fox) life that has been held off until now and will have direct significance to the events on the island.
The producers are claiming that the show is now shifting into an answer-giving mode and it will continue to be like that for the next 3 years all the way until the "bitter end."
It all begins with a huge Ben-centric episode tomorrow night which finally explains the connection between The Others and the Dharma Initiative.
The episode will also feature the introduction of the Jacob character, an elusive, unseen, presumed leader of the Others who is "every bit as significant to [LOST] universe as the Emperor was to the Star Wars universe."

Now I'm really excited.
Justin, don't tease us like that! You know I'm the biggest Lost fan! You can tease me about McFoursomes, as we will likely never meet, but don't tease me about Lost! LOL
More info!!! Please!!! ;) What is this game changing thing you're talking about???
You are truly McTeasy! LOL
I cannot wait to see where they will be taking the show!
Something came to me, maybe this is all part of the Great Tribulation that is to occur before the Second coming of Christ. Nobody can say with any garuntee what it will be like.
Maybe they will do the rest of the series 24 style with one hour covered in real time per episode. Maybe the earth will have 48 hours left after this season, I dunno. Its just a thought with lots of holes.
Me?! :) It's the producers who are doing all the McTeasing!
We have to keep an eye on daytime talk shows the day after LOST finale airs. They often have people whose characters are killed off the previous night.
I say that 48 hours theory sounds in line with what the producers have said. Then again I am sure there can be other interpretations, too.
