"Ugly Betty" - Outstanding Comedy Series at GLAAD Media Awards

APRIL 15, 2007: ABC's brilliant comedy "Ugly Betty" won the Outstanding Comedy Series award at last night's GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles and the show's fabulous stars Rebecca Romijn, Becki Newton, Michael Urie as well as the 14-year old Marc Indelicato were there to enjoy the sweet taste of success with the rest of the cast.

The comedy which has captured the hearts of over 13 million people across America promotes a truly timeless message of being true to oneself and accepting others for who they really are, something gay audiences that adore the show do not always have the luxury of enjoying.

Created and executive produced by Silvio Horta, an openly gay man in Hollywood, the show can easily relate to gay audiences with its impressive cast and real life issues of its vibrant array of characters.

Rebecca Romijn plays Alexis Meade a transgender character who struggles to find acceptance within her own family.

Michael Urie is Marc, Vanessa Williams' gay assistant whose mother abandons him when she learns who he really is.

Becki Newton is Amanda, Marc's best girlfriend, a prima fashionista and a vulnerable young woman underneath her seemingly insensitive cover.

Finally, Marc Indelicato plays the tap-dancing showtune-loving and simply fabulous nephew Justin, who finds Mode Magazine his land of Oz.

Congratulations to the outstanding cast and creators of "Ugly Betty" for yet another in a long line of awards and acknowledgments.

  1. Congratulations to Ugly Betty. The show is so great, i'm very proud of it.
I watched the colombian and the mexican version, and i can say it's so much better, but still there are a lot of things in common.

  2. I gotta say that Becki Newton is definitely a looker in that dress she has on.

I'm amazed at the cast appearing on stage. Everyone was there except for America Ferrara and Vanessa Williams. I wonder where they were?

I do love the after party photos. Those were very cute. :)

  3. Apparently America got sick while filming the day before and unfortunately had to miss the GLAAD awards.

  5. Ooh, thank you for the scoop, Jen. I think America would have so enjoyed being at the event.

Please tell your daughter, Becki, that we love her to death. She's amazing as Amanda. And whoever did her makeup did a wonderful job of bringing her natural beauty out with light makeup.
