Prison Break Spoilers #222: "Sona" (Second Season Finale)

FOX's over-the-top and yet so entertaining manhunt drama "Prison Break" comes to a shocking and explosive second season finale tonight at 8pm with the final installment entitled "Sona" that ends with a cliffhanger and yes... more deaths.

Series creator Paul Schering explained to TV Guide that the writers have made a decision to once again reinvent the show that revolved around escaping from prison in season 1 and being on the run in season 2.

The running man formula will be tossed in tonight's exciting season-ender after brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows try to complete the final step of Michael's plan to get to Panama and sail off into the sunset with a bag of millions.

Robert Knepper, who plays the immensely entertaining sleazebag T-Bag reveales that the characters one wouldn't think are going to be together will come together. Will he be one of those who bytes the dust, though?

William Fichtner's pill-popping agent Alexander Mahone will find himself a fugitive from the law as tables turn on the character in the episode. The writers love him, but do they love him enough to bring him back for a third season?

Some of the actors have already announced they will be moving on to new projects, such as Paul Adelstein who plays secret service agent Paul Kellerman (Grey's Anatomy spin-off series) and Rockmond Dunbar who plays C-Note.

But is anyone really safe? Sarah Wayne Callies, who plays Dr. Sara Tancredi has announced she is pregnant. Even if her character survives, she is bound to stay off the set for at least a little while.

Michael's Fox River cellmate, Fernando Sucre (played by Amaury Nolasco) was already dying after being stabbed by T-Bag in the last episode. And what about Wade Williams' Capt. Brad Bellick, who is bound to get some bad karma, sooner or later.

"I like that there's some peril," says Adelstein. "There's a cliff-hanger to Kellerman's story line in the finale, and I think there will be some passionate discussion about exactly what happened. It's not really ambiguous, but it's still open to various interpretations."

As for his character Mahone, Fichtner reveals: "He takes a bit of a skydive, but I wouldn't say it is a cliff-hanger," Fichtner says. "He'll fall off the cliff one way or the other."

Knepper says about T-Bag: "If we get to a part where we're not running, there are only three places you can go: some faraway land where you can sip mai tais on the beach, or prison, or you can die and go to heaven. My last scene will be a great send-off for my character into one of those three places."

The government conspiracy may continue to be a focus even in season three (this contradicts earlier reports that it would be resolved by the end of tonight's episode), but Scheuring promises Season 3 will be completely different in tone than anything we have seen on "Prison Break" so far.

As for FOX official description of the episode: Michael races against the clock to rescue Lincoln and beat Mahone at his own end game; Sucre risks his life to save a missing Maricruz; Kellermans testimony at Sarahs trial proves deadly; and T-Bag and Bellick find themselves up a Panamanian river.

The second season finale of "Prison Break" entitled "Sona" airs tonight at 8pm on FOX.
