Rep. Hilda L. Solis (D-Calf.), visited the set of ABC`s hit series "Ugly Betty" on Monday, presenting America Ferrera with a copy of a resolution applauding Ferrera for raising the profile of Latinos in popular culture, being a role-model to them and breaking down barriers in primetime television.
The Congresswoman introduced the resolution to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives January 17.
A native of Los Angeles and a daughter of Honduran immigrant parents, America Ferrera won the Golden Globe for her portrayal of Betty Suarez in the ABC comedy series, a young Latina professional breaking into the publishing business.
