"Smallville" Spoilers: #616: "Promise": The Wedding Of Lex Luthor And Lana Lang

Next Thursday on The CW Smallville's girl-next-door Lana Lang walks down the aisle to tie the knot with the young Superman saga's resident villain Lex Luthor in an unforgettable episode that promises to expose Lex at "his darkest ever".

According to Michael Rosenbaum who plays Lex, the young Luthor does love Lana. In fact, Rosenbaum insists "he loves her more than life."

On the day of their wedding, Lex receives a call from Dr. Langston (guest star Fred Henderson) who threatens to tell Lana the truth about her baby.



Lana begins to have second thoughts about marrying Lex and Clark comes to his own realization that he can't let Lana marry Lex and decides to tell her about his secret.



However, no one is prepared for what happens when Lionel Luthor (the marvelous John Glover) steps in.



When the truth about Lana's pregnancy threatens to spoil a rare moment of happiness in the life of the man described as Superman's greatest nemesis Rosenbaum goes on to reveal: "Things blow up in his face. He has to fix things and he has to fix them fast."



Little is known about the secret surrounding Lana's baby, but according to TV Guide when the truth is exposed Lana realizes Lex may have pulled the mother of all deceptions. Best of all? The secret has little to do with the baby's father, as much as the baby's mother. Huh?



Sarah Jane Redmond returns in this episode as Lana's aunt Nell Potter.



The episode "Promise" airs next Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 8/7c on The CW.
