The cast and crew of FOX's hit thriller "Prison Break" have hit the beach and begun filming the 2nd season finale in Pensacola today. They are expected to wrap up production on Wednesday. The conspiracy-ending episode airs April 2nd.
According to local press, about 120 cast and crew members of "Prison Break" are filming segments for the as-yet-untitled episode at this time.
"We needed to come to, for a lack of a better term, a tropical environment for the last three days of shooting this year," said producer Garry Brown, who arrived in Pensacola on Saturday.
"I wanted to go close to Dallas, where we shoot Season Two. And we knew that at the western tip of Florida there are white-sand beach areas that are attractive and beautiful turquoise waters."
The locals are hoping the episode will bring more production to the area in the future.
"We’re doing all the casting for the extras they need to hire," said Izon Models and Talent agency director Rebecca Taylor.
"This is a big deal for Pensacola to have this kind of production here. These kinds of things don’t come through that often. And the show is big. It’s one of Fox’s biggest shows. So this is huge and I hope it brings more production back this way."
Meanwhile, "Prison Break" returns with the final 3 episodes of the season next Monday, March 19 - a season one rerun of "House" will air in its place tonight ("House" is pre-empted tomorrow night due to a 2-hour edition of "American Idol").
