NAACP Award winner Isaiah Washington who plays Dr. Preston Burke on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" has said to Entertainment Weekly he does not know whether he will be coming back to the medical drama for a fourth season. Although ABC insists he will, TV Guide reports he will not be getting a raise, unlike his co-stars Pompeo, Dempsey and Oh.
Although all actors are bound by 7-year contracts, a standard in the TV industry, studios often reward their cast members if a show becomes popular, for which reason Patrick Dempsey is now expected to earn more than $200,000 per episode and his co-star Sandra Oh a little over $100,000.
Katherine Heigl was also offered a raise, but the actress pulled out of contract negotiations February 27, because she "didn't feel the studio valued her as much as her co-stars," People Magazine reported.
Now TV Guide reports, the producers are using Washington's homophobic scandal to keep his salary down. The f-word fiasco may cost the actor millions of dollars, and he will, the magazine adds, have to find a way to live with it.
