"Survivor" was back on Thursday night with lots of Nielsen power helping CBS win the night, although the network's top series "CSI" got crushed by those lovable doctors of ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" whose spectacular "Walk On Water" episode pulled in 24,95 million viewers, once again becoming the night's top telecast.
"Survivor: Fiji" kicked things off with admirable 16,68 million viewers at 8pm. Still. the reality show lost a million viewers over Cook Island premiere, and 2,7 million from Panama opener last year.
Despite the competition, ABC's "Ugly Betty" was up 350,000 viewers over last week's episode scoring 14,3 million viewers, making it one of its strongest performances so far this season.
NBC comedies were down a million or so viewers week-to-week (My Name Is Earl, 9,56 million and The Office, 8,85 million). Nevertheless, both comedies were rather strong in the crucial 18-49 demo.
"Grey's Anatomy" three-episode ferryboat-fire arc began with a powerful 24,95 million viewers, beating the return of Grissom on CBS's CSI that scored 22,28 million. Both shows gained a million viewers each.
Earthquake rocked Newport on FOX's "The O.C.", but soon-to-conclude drama continues to get lost amid the most powerful competition on network television. The "Shake-Up" episode scored only 3,57 million viewers.
Bad news for CW's "Supernatural", too. The drama scored a very low season-low 2,83 million viewers, losing almost half of "Smallville's" audience.
Finally, "Men In Trees" continues to lose all that precious "Grey's" lead-in scoring a disappointing 10,9 million. Still the drama tied "Shark" in the 18-49 category. Will Anne Heche hold on to her job next year, though? Somehow I am starting to seriously doubt that.
