TV Ratings: "Desperate Housewives" Powers ABC Sunday To Victory

ABC was the network to beat on Sunday night with a winning combo of "Desperate Housewives" (top show of the evening, 18,3 million viewers) and "Brothers and Sisters" (11,8 million).

However, the ratings reports are mixed for fans of "Desperate Housewives". The dramedy has been on the decline since the critically-acclaimed and highly-rated November episode "Bang" falling below 20 million viewers in 2007.

Although the highly touted conclusion to the Monique Pollier mystery did manage to perform slightly better than the previous week's installment, the episode did worse than the drama's season-to-date average of 19,7 million viewers (that figure includes low-rated reruns).

That means - unless the new Edie-centric episodes of the drama perk up in the ratings, "Housewives" season average will continue to be pushed down by the lower-rated episodes this year and "Grey's Anatomy" whose season-average is still only 19,6 million viewers (including reruns) will soon surpass it.

Elsewhere, "Brothers & Sisters" continues to be top show in the important 18-49 category at 10pm.

"The Apprentice" continues to sink and reach new series lows - the latest episode scored only 6 million viewers. No wonder NBC is moving the show to 10pm.

FOX's 9pm combo of "Family Guy" and "American Dad" continues to do very well in the 18-49 demo, scoring higher ratings than CBS's "Amazing Race" and "Cold Case".

DH's 'low' ratings make me so sad. :( Really hope the show can climb up...

  2. Rumor has it that B&S will be picked up by ABC for a 2nd season but moving it to Tuesday nights at 10P.M. Which means that the supposed rumor of cancellation for Boston Legal could be true.

    We'll see.
