And before you Doogie fans get all worried - it was all just a brilliant attempt to break up the monotony of conventional awards shows as the star of CBS's "How I Met Your Mother" joined a host of celebrities singing each of the Best Picture nominees at Saturday's Independent Spirit awards in Santa Monica.

"Little Miss Sunshine" that failed to win the Best Picture at last night's Academy Awards won that honor on Saturday taking home as many as four Spirit awards. Neil Patrick Harris a.k.a. Barney on the CBS sitcom, who has extensive background in theater, sang a song in honor of Best Picture nominee "American Gun."
