"LOST" Spoilers: Entertainment Weekly Spills Upcoming Shockers

Pick up a fresh copy of Entertainment Weekly out today as the magazine that first reported Juliet was going to shoot someone in just-seen episode #7 of ABC's mega hit series "LOST" now depicts a scene from episode #13 set in Othersville - Juliet pushing Ben in a wheelchair and Jack playing football with Mr. Friendly!

In the article, the show's defiant star Matthew Fox and the rest of the cast resent the idea "LOST" has gone off course saying the people who stopped watching were just "hype-intrigued looky-loos who've decided LOST isn't for them and gravitated toward less complicated fare."

The producers do acknowledge mistakes have been made, primarily in the way they used this season's well-intentioned, but poorly executed scheduling. The plan to utilize the fall "miniseason" to set up new story lines and tell one complete arc backfired as the writers crafted narrowly focused episodes that left no room for other characters and the show's myriad of ongoing subplots.

One of the greatest regrets the producers have had was the clumsy demise of Mr. Eko, who was originally supposed to be killed off at a later point in the season, but when actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje asked to leave the show, the producers were forced to accelerate the story line.

Also, despite the fact that some critics believe the writers are simply stretching out the story lines because they are out of ideas, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse insist they do know where the story is headed for which reason they have begun talking to ABC about settling on an end date for Lost, before the show runs the risk of degenerating into irrelevance and/or self-parody.

Finally, the article reveals many of the upcoming story lines some of which you may or may not have heard about, so here is a short rundown:

There's flashback action for Claire, Hurley, and Sayid, the secret of Jack's made-in-Thailand tattoos (somehow connected to guest star Bai Ling), and the long-awaited and stunning tale of how Locke wound up in a wheelchair.

The kidnapped kids and stewardess Cindy (Kimberley Joseph) make an appearance in episode #9 (Feb. 21).

The Others' connection to that utopian weird-science project, the Dharma Initiative, is slated to be revealed in episode #11 (March 7), which also features a visit to a new hatch (dubbed the Flame).

And throughout, expect to see the repercussions of Ben's spinal surgery as he is not at full power, leaving other people to try to swoop in and occupy his position.

Meanwhile, back on the beach the survivors will finally be dealing with the aftereffects of Desmond turning the fail-safe key, which imploded the hatch and lit the sky purple.

In episode #8 (Feb. 14), the lovelorn Scottish soldier — new and improved with precognitive abilities! — informs a central character that he or she will die!

Desmond is also the subject of a flashback device employed "in a way we never have before and never will again," says Lindelof.

"It'll either blow people's minds or chase them away for good." Does that have anything to do with the idea that "only fools are slaves of time and space?"

Lindelof acknowledges that new characters Nikki and Paulo are "universally despised" by fans, that's going to change, he vows they will become iconic characters on the show."

Speaking of icons, the love triangle of Kate, Sawyer, and Jack morphs into something of a quadrangle as Juliet cozies up closer to Jack. Only after she had spoken to him, Juliet may have realized he was the right person to help her escape.

She may however also like him. And that should not sit well with Kate, who for now has made her bed with Sawyer, but may still have a real journey to go on with Jack.

  1. I just got it in the mail today! Woohoo! I love that cover, it is so Silence of the Lambs! I think that Elizabeth Mitchell adds a lot of spark to the show, and as soon as they bring everyone back together again, we should be back on track! I don't believe though that Nikki and Paolo will turn out to be interesting characters, they are SO boring!

  2. I loved Elizabeth Mitchell from the very first muffin she burned on the show!

I would give the producers my benefit of the doubt about Nikki and Paulo. They never really had time to do something proper with them. I hope we're in for a huge surprise.

I am really looking forward to the show even more than before. I guess I really missed it and I always get protective of my favorite shows whenever there's an irritating backlash out there.
