Is Katherine Heigl Leaving "Grey's Anatomy"?
People Magazine is reporting that "Grey's Anatomy" star Katherine Heigl has dropped out of her contract talks with ABC Studio (formerly Touchstone) over a salary dispute.
An inside source told the magazine that Katie was hurt because she felt the studio did not seem to value her as much as they did her co-stars Sandra Oh or Isaiah Washington.
Katherine hit the headlines earlier this year when she publicly voiced disapproval of her Isaiah Washington's homophobic slur in support of co-star and close friend T.R. Knight.
The actress told a Hollywood entertainment magazine at the time "I will probably get into trouble for this."
On the one hand I can understand that she wants to be treated fairly, but on the other hand, she has to realize that Grey's Anatomy's success isn't just based on ONE person and that she'll unlikely find any success coming anywhere close to what she has had. Would the show suffer without her? I actually don't think so, but she'd regret it. What do you think, Justin?
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid you're right, Roland. I do adore Katherine, I had loved her even before her admirable act of support for T.R., but I do suppose her star power is not strong enough to land a better deal than "Grey's", at least not in the short run. If she does leave the show, I do hope I am mistaken.
ReplyDeleteWe don't know, however, what's going on behind the scenes and whether or not she was reproached for her candor about the Isaiah affair.
