"24" Spoilers: Jack Bauer Rescues Helicopter Crew

Last Monday, the unthinkable happened on FOX's "24". Terrorists detonated a nuclear weapon on US soil before a stunned nation and a distraught Jack Bauer. So, what happens now?

As the next episode opens, over one square mile of Valencia, a suburb of Los Angeles has been destroyed and winds are blowing the airborne radiation away from the mushroom cloud.

Initial estimates suggest no less than 12,000 people have died instantly.

The CTU is in possession of intel that four more nuclear weapons have been stolen and may be detonated at any time.

All civilian air-traffic is shut down.

The President and his staff are moved down to the bunker under the White House.

Department of Emergency Services and Public Safety urges all civilians to return home.

Within minutes, television networks are airing information about radiation fallout.

People are running in the streets panicking.

A helicopter crashes on the roof of a house. One of the crew members gets out and runs asking for help.

A barely responsive Jack Bauer agrees to help him, minutes after he had killed his friend and fellow agent Curtis.
