Yes, the networks do contribute to that audience erosion with their poor choice, but people travel and spend more time out of their homes, so there is a valid reason behind that strategy.

Cable nets choose summer to launch their shows because they want to capitalize on the absence of network hits. But even when cable shows succeed, their ratings are nowhere near the levels expected by the broadcast networks advetisers.Justin Van De Kamphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07690256513604925066noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34409349.post-1098425654233287732008-02-06T12:44:00.000-05:002008-02-06T12:44:00.000-05:00So does this mean that we get 16 episodes of DSM c...So does this mean that we get 16 episodes of DSM come September?? I guess it makes more sense than showing 3 episodes in May but why are the networks so against showing new shows that they are high on in Summer? I know Summer ratings are traditionally lower but in this year of strike it's a long time for fans to wait. Some may not come back as they will be interested in other things now. Not to mention the actors may strike this summer so why not produce these ASAP, show them starting in May (thru July) and make a decision in June weather this is worthy of a 2nd season to be launched in October?? Cable has shown that good shows will have success in the summer (Mad Men to name one). Why not the networks?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34409349.post-40101672602190823102008-02-06T11:02:00.000-05:002008-02-06T11:02:00.000-05:00This sucks on so many levels it isn't even funny. ...This sucks on so many levels it isn't even funny.
